Raider Girls Fall To GT
RUTHVEN – Graettinger/Terril’s girls picked up their first win of the campaign with a 44-29 win over Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday night.
The Knights took a 13-6 lead after one quarter and then edged out to a 27-13 advantage at half time. Despite a solid effort by Ruthven-Ayrshire in the second half, the Knights were able to double up the Raiders 40-20 after three quarters to take the 44-29 victory.
For Ruthven-Ayrshire, Sadie Forey led the effort with a double-double, posting 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds on the defensive end of the floor.
Alesha Sikora chipped in seven points for the Raider offense, while Caitlyn Reed added four tallies and Shyanne Zaragoza scored two points.
On defense, Alesha Sikora added seven rebounds, while Caitlyn Reed nd Shyanne Zaragoza both had four boards. Keely Williamson and Megan Wichman both collected two rebounds in the effort.
Shyanne Zaragoza dished out three assists, while Caitlyn Reen and Alesha Sikora both had one assist each, while Forey, Reed and Williamson all made one steal each.
For Graettinger/Terril, Dakota Hovinga led the offense with 15 points, while Lindsay Flaharty added 11 points. Tiffany Harris tallied nine points, while Tasha Neilson came away with six points. Amanda Oleson had two points and Mariah Girres added a free throw.
On defense, Tasha Nelson grabbed 12 rebounds, while Tiffany Harris pulled down nine boards and Amanda Oleson had six boards.
Dakota Hovinga dished out eight assists to her teammates and Lindsay Flaharty made two steals.
“We got a solid effort on the defensive end, and with a nice balance inside and outside, we got a nice effort on the offense,”?noted GT Head Coach Roger Conway. “All nine of our girls contributed with good minutes in the win.”
The Raiders close out with Woden Crystal Lake-Titonka on Friday night.
Graettinger/Terril will host Laurens-Marathon on Friday and travels to Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne Saturday.
