Lady E’Hawks Struggle In Losses
Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks struggled offensively in a pair of losses over the weekend on the hardwood. On Friday, Emmetsburg fell to Estherville Lincoln Central by a 48-22 tally, and then fell to Okoboji on Saturday night by a 70-38 score.
In Friday’s game, the Lady E’Hawks couldn’t get their offense to hit in fir first quarter, as ELC?came out and immediately put Emmetsburg down by a 12-4 tally when the quarer ended. The Lady E’Hawks would trail by 15 points at the intermission, 25-10.
In the third quarter, Emmetsburg began getting some shots to fall, but ELC was still hitting their shots as the defense looked for a way to make a stop.
Trailing 39-17 to start the final quarter, Emmetsburg struggled to get any scoring going against the speedy Midgettes and would end up in the48-22 final setback.
Maddison Woodruff would lead Emmetsburg’s offense in the loss with seven points, while Aly Berven came off the bench for six points in the effort. Paige Naig and Tiff Wollum both added four points each, while Jayme Penrod rounded out the scoring with two points.
Traveling to Okoboji on Saturday, the Lady E’Hawks fell in a 70-38 decision to the Pioneers.
Okoboji jumped out to a 13-2 lead after one quarter as the Lady E’Hawks struggled with the offensive flow again. Emmetsburg would trail 33-18 at the intermission. Emmetsburg would add 10 points to their total in the third quarter and trailed 52-28 to start the final quarter, and Okoboji would cruise to the win.
Paige Naig would lead the Emmetsburg effort with 10 points, while Tiff Wollum added six points. Justine Kummer came off the bench to tally four points, while Nicole Leuer had three points and Faith Schmidt had two points.
Emmetsburg will host LeMars tonight (Tuesday) and then close out the first half of the season Friday at Spencer.
