WEST?BEND – The Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard fell in a pair of tough losses last week. On Thursday, the Wolverines fell to Rockwell City-Lytton by a 79-39 score and on Friday, the Wolverines were outscored 30-9 in the final quarter to lose 54-44 to Twin River Valley.

On Thursday, the Wolverines went down 17-7 after one quarter, and trailed 43-18 at the intermission. RCL would slide out to a 64-28 lead to start the final quarter and went on to take the 79-39 final.

Jake Goodchild led the Wolverines with 13 points, while Mitch Bonnstetter added eight points And Jake Umsted chipped in seven points. Chris Schmidt had five points, Collin Thatcher added four and Greg Moser added two.

Chris Schmidt would collect six rebounds and Jake Goodchild added five boards, while Mitch Bonnstetter made three steals.

Against Twin River Valley on Friday, the Wolverines led 10-8 after one quarter and held a 23-16 advantage at the intermission. West Bend-Mallard stretched their lead out to a 35-21 margin after three quarters, but in the final frame, the wheels fell off the wagon as Twin Rivery Valley stormed back, outscoring the Wolverines 30-9 to snatch away the 51-44 decision from the purple and gold.

Jake Goodchild led the scoring with 18 points, while Chris Schmidt added 10 points. Taylor Foley had seven points, while Mitch Bonnstetter added four points. Greg Mader tallied three points and Clay Douglas rounded out the effort with two points.

Chris Schmidt would grab 13 rebounds while dishing out five assists and blocking three shots.

The Wolverines will host North Kossuth tonight and then travel to Ventura on Friday night.
