Ruthven-Ayrshire Edges H-LP
RUTHVEN – You always want to win the first game of your season, but for the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders on Friday, it came right down to the final buzzer before taking a 60-59 win over Harris-Lake Park.
“You could tell we were nervous playing our first game of the season.” noted RA?Head Coach Randy Hough. “We were very balanced offensively, but defensively we allowed way too many three-point opportunities.”
The game was an even affair with the two teams trading buckets all night long in an exciting contest.
Ruthven-Ayrshire would be led offensively by ?Mark Geelan with 19 points, while Ryan Sikora added 14 points to the effort. Colten Bakken added nine points, as did Zach Loring, while Logan Fischer added six points. Trevin Enderson rounded out the scoring with three points.
Defensively, Ryan Sikora pulled down 13 rebounds on the night, while Mark Geelan collected eight boards. Sikora and Zach Loring both dished out four assists, while Sikora added a pair of steals and two blocked shots. Colten Bakken also blocked two shots in the winning effort for the Raiders.
“With only one experienced player returning, I thought our boys played very well,” Hough noted. “But, now we need to improve defensively.”
The Raiders host Storm Lake St. Mary’s tonight and travel to Everly Friday to meet Clay Central Everly before hosting Aurelia Saturday.
