Knight Wrestlers Split Double Dual

MILFORD – Graettinger/Terril’s Knights started their wrestling campaign with a split of duals with Okoboji and Spencer Thursday night. G/T downed Okoboji 45-34 but lost a 53-24 decision to the Spencer Tigers.

Opening with Okoboji, the Knights earned six pins, as Tyler Dalen earned a 1:58 fall over Ryan Clark at 103 pounds and at 112, Austin Thompson earned a 2:22 win by fall over Chris Albright. At 119 Tyler Manning won in 1:38 fall over Jon Mitchell and at 130, Trent Lundgren scored a 2:57 fall over Brady Linn.

Michael Jensen would record a 2:32 win by fall in his 152 pound match with Kris Kaufman and Nate Howard, wrestling at 285 pounds, scored a 1:02 win by fall over Okoboji’s Dustin Schwaller.

The Knights also got a win from Ryan Schany at 140 with a 5-2 decision over Cody Louscher and Heath Marchand, wrestling at 145, received a forfeit.

The Knights’ Connor Tonderum lost 11-3 to Taylor Cody at 125, while Tym Mart was pinned in3:02 by Tanner Taylor at 135 pounds. Palo Lazo was pinned in 1:27 of the 160 pound match by Zach Jones and Drew Skattebo was pinned in 3:19 by Tate Hanson in the 171 pound match.

It was a different story against Spencer for G/T.

“We lost the swing matches in this dual and made a lot of mistakes,” said GT Head Coach Cody Alesch. “We are a young team and we simply need to get better every time out.”

All of the Knights wins came off falls. Tyler Dalen won in 3:30 over Murray Scott and Thompson won in 1:37 over Bailey Hawn. Heath Marchand won in 1:56 over Jack Randall and Nate Howard won in 54 seconds over Kris Rhode in the 215 pound match.

Tyler Manning lost by decision to John Christopherson and Zach Chicoine lost by fall in 3:48 at 125. Trent Lundgren lost 11-2 to Tanner Schaefer while Tym Hart lost by fall in 1:21. Ryan Schany lost by fall in 3:14 and Michael Jensen lost 7-5 to Matt Wilkerson. Palo Lazo and Drew Skattebo, both lost by fall in 59 seconds and 2:41, respectively.
