FORT?DODGE – For Emmetsburg’s Rachael Moore, the 2009 Girls State Cross Country Meet was an improvement over her freshman experience. After finishing 53rd as a freshman, Moore turned in a :16.08 clocking to finish in a tie for 12th place, after crossing the line as the 26th finisher in the Class 1A competition.

The state meet was run Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Lakeside Golf Course outside of Fort Dodge.

Moore turned in a mile split time of 6:18 and ran her second mile in 6:39, respectible times over the slippery course, softened by several days of rain.

Emmetsburg resident Erin Reedy, running for Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, earned fourth place overall on the day in Class 1A, finishing with a time of 15:37, which included a one mile split of 6:11 and a two mile split of 6:28.

“Rachael ran a good, smart race,” noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Dan Dooley. “I have great hopes for her next season as a junior for the Lady E’Hawks.”
