Lady E’Hawks Fall In Regular Season Finale`

Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks lost their final regular season contest Thursday to Cherokee and were swept in four matches at Saturday’s Storm Lake tournament.

Thursday, the Lady E’Hawks fell by scores of 18-25, 19-25, 25-9 and 21-25.

Paige Naig made 25 of 31 hits with eight kills, assisted on a block and a dig, while Jordan Morris had 18 of 23 hit swith nine kills, made 21 of 21 serves with three aces, assisted on two blocks and dug out 11 shots.

Nicole Leuer added 19 of 23 hits with five kills, 10 of 12 serves with an ace, assisted on a block and had 15 digs with an assist. Morgan Vlasman made 17 of 20 hits with eight kills and five digs and Chelsey Rouse added 17 of 20 hits with five kills, along with assisting on two blocks, made a dig and handed out an assist.

Nikki Schany made three of four hits with a kill and dished out three assists. Hillary Pico added 15 of 15 serves and 14 digs, while Jordan Kerber had 12 of 12 serves with three digs and 10 assists.

Hannah Drost made 12 of 14 serves with two aces, two digs and 15 assists, while Molli Schmeling added 10 of 11 serves with 13 digs.

In action at the Storm Lake Tournament on Saturday, Emmetsburg went 0-8 on the day, losing to Spirit Lake 19-21 and 13-21; cherokee 20-21, 12-21; Estherville Lincoln Central 10-21, 13-21 and Storm Lake 17-21 and 14-21.

On the day, Jordan Morris would make 16 of 17 serves, 33 of 45 hits with 11 kills, blocked one shot and assisted on one block and made 16 digs.

Paige Naig would come away with 24 of 32 hits with eight kills, along with five digs and an assist. Nikki Schany came away with seven of seven hits with three kills, assisted on one block, made one dig and handed out one assist.

Nicole Leuer came away with 15 of 16 serves and two aces, along with 32 of 40 hits with six kills, seven digs and an assist.

Morgan Vlasman would made four of seven serves with one ace, along with 34 of 37 hits with 16 kills, as well as 10 digs and issued one assist.

Hannah Drost completed 26 of 28 serves with four aces, made five digs and issued 24 assists to her teammates. Molli Schmeling added 21 of 24 serves, made one hit, had six digs and made one assist.

Hillary Pico connected on 18 of 18 serves on the day, dug out 12 shots and handed out three assists while Jordan Kerber added 12 of 13 serves with one ace, made five digs and issued 10 assists on the day.

Overall, Emmetsburg finished the tournament with 112 of 123 serves and eight aces, along with 154 out of 186 hitting attempts with 47 kills. The Lady E’Hawks had 70 digs and 44 assists, along with one blocked shot and two assisted blocked shots.

Emmetsburg enters the post season tonight (Tuesday) when they play host to Estherville Lincoln Central in a class 2A Regional First Round game at 7 p.m. at the Emmetsburg High School gym.
