By Staff | Oct 15, 2009

RUTHVEN – The regular season came to a close on a losing note for the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders in a 3-0 loss to Harris-Lake Park Tuesday night. The Raiders fell by scores of 13-25, 13-25 and 18-25.

“We knew we’d need to play solid defense and be ready for an aggressive night at the net,” noted RA?Head Coach Kim Sierck. “I was pretty pleased with that part of the game, but our serving was really off.”

For the Raiders, Sadie Forey led the offensive attack by making 22 of 27 hits with eight kills, while Jessica Larson made eight of 10 hits with a kill. Caitlyn Reed added five of eight hits with a kill and Kendra Feldman came away with five of six hits and a pair of kills. Miranda McGrauth added three of six hits with a kill and both Megan Alexander and Alesha Sikora came away with two of two hits in the match.

At the serving line, Alesha Sikora made seven of seven serves with one ace, while Jessica Larson made six of seven serves with two aces. Caitlyn Reed made five of six serves, while Megan Alexander and Geena Black both added four of six serves.

Kendra Feldman made three of three serves, while Kayla Dyer made two of three serves and Sadie Forey added two of five serves.

“There’s no chance to win a match serving 73 percent,”?Sierck noted. “We’ve really got to get our focus back and work to take care of the ball and limit those unforced errors.”

Megan Alexander dished out five assists and made six digs, while Sadie Forey had seven digs and an assist. Caitlyn Reed made six assists, while Geena Black had five assists and Jessica Larson had four helpers.

Miranda McGrauth and Alesha Sikora both added one assist and one dig.

“I thought game three was really the type of ball we’re capable of playing,”?Sierck noted. “The girls did a nice job of rallying and getting refocused after we had an injury in game two. It’s not always easy in volleyball to shift to a different offense than you usually run, and I was proud of how the girls handed themselves and remained composed.”

The Raiders open tournament play next Wednesday at Everly against Clay Central-Everly.
