Lady E’Hawks Blanked At Spencer

Even with some good volleys and lots of hustle, Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks came up on the wrong end of a 3-0 match to Spencer on Tuesday night. The Lady E’Hawks fell by game scores of 12=25, 9-25 and 16-25.

The Lady E’Hawks connected at the net, making 56 of 68 attacks with 19 kills as a team, while adding 31 of 38 successful serves with two aces.

Nicole Leuer had the night at the net with 13 of 16 hits and four kills, while Jordan Morris added 12 of 14 hits with six kills. Morgan Vlasman added 11 of 14 hits with three kills in the match and Chelsey Rouse came away with nine of 12 hits with a kill.

Paige Naig made eight of eight hits with four kills and Nikki Schany added three of four hits with a kill to the effort.

At the serving line, Molli Schmeling made eight of nine serves on the night, while Jordan Morris added six of nine completed serves. Hillary Pico added seven of seven serves, while Hannah Drost made five of five serves with an ace and Nicole Leuer connected on four of five serves with an ace. Jordan Kerber added one of three serves to the effort.

Jordan Morris would have a solo block and an assist, with Morgan Vlasman assisting on a block.

Defensively, Hillary Pico dug out seven shots, while Molli Schmeling dug out six shots. Jordan Kerber, Chelsey Rouse, Nicole Leuer and Jordan Morris all dug out three shots each and Hannah Drost had two digs.

Hannah Drost would hand out seven assists on the night, while Jordan Kerber added four helpers. Hillary Pico offered two assists, while Chelsey Rouse and Nikki Schany both had one assist.

Emmetsburg returns home tonight (Thursday) to host the Wolfpack of Western Christian and then travel to Storm Lake on Saturday for the Storm Lake Varsity Tournament. The Lady E’Hawk junior varsity squad will travel to Sheldon on Saturday for tournament action.
