ESTHERVILLE – Both the Lady E’Hawks of Emmetsburg and the Knights of Graettinger/Terril would play at the Estherville Lincoln Central tournament on Saturday and both teams would end up with 1-2 marks overall in pool play.

For Emmetsburg, the day started with a 2-1 win over Armstrong-Ringsted by game scores of 21-18, 16-21 and 15-10. The Lady E’Hawks fell 2-0 to Humboldt by 5-21 and 18-21 scores and then lost to Storm Lake 2-0, by game scores of 14-21 and 16-21.

On the day, Jordan Morris made 20 of 23 serves with three aces, along with 24 of 29 hits and 10 kills. Morris had six assisted blocks and four digs. Hannah Drost would make 19 of 20 serves with two aces, dug out 11 shots and handed out 16 assists on the day.

Jordan Kerber added 18 of 18 serves with a pair of aces, dug out four shots and made eight assists.

Nicole Leuer added 11 of 13 serves with an ace and made 20 0 f26 hits with six kills, while blocking one shot and assisting on one block. Leuer also dug out 11 shots on the day.

Chelsey Rouse would play well at the net, making 24 of 29 hits with five aces, as well as assisting on five blocks, making three digs and handing out five helpers.

Morgan Vlasman added 17 of 24 hits with eight kills, assisted on a pair of blocks and dug out six shots. Paige Naig added 13 of 17 hits with three kills and assisted on six blocks at the net.

Nikki Schany made five of eight hits with four kills, assisted on four blocks, and made a pair of digs with one assist.

Molli Schmeling connected on 14 of 17 serves and dug out 15 shots, while teammate Hillary Pico added 12 of 12 serves and 12 digs to the final effort for the Lady E’Hawks.

For Graettinger/Terril, the Knights opened with a 201 win over Estherville Lincoln Central by scores of 20-22, 22-20 and 15-11. However, the Knights fell to Sioux City West by scores of 13-21 and 17-21 before losing to Laurens-Marathon by game scores of 12-21, 21-19 and 7-15.

Tasha Neilson would lead the Knight netters with 16 kills, while Nikki Brown added 10 kills, Dakota Hovinga and Morgan Mortenson both came away with seven kills each.

Lindsay Flaharty would hand out 31 assists to her teammates on the day, while Dakota Hovinga would dig out 26 shots. Tasha Neilson dug out 24 shots on the day and Lindsay Flaharty added 13 digs to the effort.

At the serving line, Graettinger/Terril was led by Dakota Hovinga, who connected on 39 serves with four aces. Morgan Mortenson added 26 serves with four aces and Tasha Neilson made 15 serves with a pair of aces.

Dakota Hovinga would lead the Knights with 48 service receptions on the day, while Tasha Neilson received 20 serves and Alissa Simington fielded 15 serves.

Tasha Neilson and Nikki Brown would both block three shots at the net to cap off the Knights efforts in the tournament.
