Knight Netters Down Wolverines

GRAETTINGER – The Knights of Graettinger/Terril earned a 3-1 win over West Bend-Mallard in Cornbelt Conference volleyball action Tuesday night. The Knights earned the win by scores of 25-19, 25-27, 25-20 and 25-19.

For Graettinger/Terril, Tasha Neilson led the offense with 15 kills, while Dakota Hovinga added 13 kills and Nikki Brown came up with eight kills.

Logan Clabaugh made 21 serves with four aces, while Morgan Mortenson added 20 serves with three aces and Tasha Neilson had 15 serves with two aces. Dakota Hovinga added 19 serve receptions, with Tasha Neilson fielding 12 serves and Haily Nelson fielding 11 serves.

Defensively, Tasha Neilson had 20 digs, while Dakota Hovinga added 18 digs. Lindsay Flaharty dug out 16 shots and Callie Herke had 13 digs. Tasha Neilson, Nikki Brown, Lindsay Flaharty and Morgan Mortenson all added a block each to the effort, and Lindsay Flaharty issued 29 assists to the team.

For West Bend-Mallard, Missy Abrahamson made 20 of 20 serves with one ace, while Nicole Gearhart made 17 of 18 serves on the night with three aces, and Carrie Hefty added 14 of 15 serves with two aces.

Amanda Frieden would hammer down 10 kills on the night, while Missy Abrahamson added six kills and Nicole Gearhart added four kills. Amanda Frieden blocked 10 shots on the night and Missy Abrahamson added seven blocks.

Carrie Hefty made six digs and handed out 22 assists in the game.

“The Knights really played a great all-around match against a tough and talented West Bend-Mallard team,”?Co-coach Jeff Sansgard said. “G/T’s success was due in large part to the great passing and serve reception by the back row players.”

Sansgard continued, “The offense was on fire, led by Tasha Neilson. The teams’ success was also due in large part to the serving success of Logan Clabaugh with four aces and Lindsay flaharty, who has missed only one serve in 14 matches.”
