E’Hawk Freshmen Improve To 4-0

Emmetsburg’s Freshman football team is off to a 4-0 start after taking wins over Cherokee by a 58-0 margin and Spencer by a 50-12 tally. This past Monday, the freshmen handed Spirit Lake a 48-0 defeat.

Against Cherokee, Andrew Wellik would rush for 146 yards and score four touchdowns. Quarterback Jake Jackson added 74 yards rushing , 70 yards passing and a touchdown to the effort.

Austin McCartan had 17 yards rushing and a touchdown, along with an interception. Mitch Peterson added 23 yards rushing and a touchdown and Cody Henderson had a 37 yd reception for a touchdown.

Against Spencer, the Freshmen got 57 yards from Andrew wellik and a touchdown, while Jake Jackson added 101 yards rushing and three touchdowns, along with 55 passing yards. Austin McCartan ran for 56 yards, with Mitch Peterson adding 15 yards rushing and one touchdown. Cody Henderson ran 56 yards and scored a touchdown and Nick Schany had 43 yards receiving and a touchdown.

On Monday, Andrew Wellik ran for 266 yards and four touchdowns to lead Emmetsburg in the win. The touchdowns came off runs of 55 yards, 79 yards, 56 yards and 33 yards. Wellik also grabbed a safety from a quarterback sack for the E’Hawks.

Jake Jackson had 54 rushing yards, including a 39 yard touchdown in the first quarter. Jackson added 29 yards passing and came up with a 59 yard punt return in the win.

Austin McCartan ran for 20 yards, while Cody Henderson and Mitch Peterson both had nine yards in the he game. Brady Garrelts had 24 yards receiving for the young E’Hawks.

The defense was led by Tony Reding with six tackles, while Andrew Wellik, Brady Garrelts and Austin McCartan all had five tackles. Wellik, Garrelts, McCartan and Chris Krug all had a quarterback sack .
