E’Hawk, Lady E’Hawk XC Hosts Invitational

Emmetsburg’s Cross Country Teams hosted their own invitational meet Monday afternoon at the Five Island Golf Course. The Lady E’Hawk varsity earned a second place finish while the E’Hawk varsity boys earned a third place finish in their competition.

Emmetsburg’s Middle School runners also participated in the event.

“It was a great day to run and everyone really gave great efforts,” noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Dan Dooley. “I was very happy with the way our junior high runners competed. They’ve been working hard along with the high school runners and it was good to see them compete well.”

For the Junior High girls, Hadley Egland was 12th with a 10:46.67, while Taylor Reimer was 16th with an 11:01.50 time. Rachel Ruddy finished in 32nd place with a time of 11:53.12, while Tegan Olson finished with a 12:39.68 clocking, good for 49th place. Maddison Reimer would round out the finishes with a 13:32.16 time for 55th place.

Moving into the Junior Varsity competition, Emmetsburg’s boys finished in order in their competition. Max Jones would earn 11th place with a 23.43.25 clocking, while Dan Pelzer was 12th with a 25.51.26 effort and Wesley Luna-Smith was 13th in a time of 27.26.33.

For the Lady E’Hawk varsity, Rachael Moore would medal with a 16:25.04 clocking, good for sith place. Blake Schany took eighth place with a 1:38.22 for a medal and Caroline Flom earned 14th place with an 18:30.78 time.

Tayler Bruns was 19th in 19:29.11 and Tacee Leebens placed 21st with a 19:40.61 time. Teanna Leebens finished in 26th place with a time of 21:33.22.

For the E’Hawk varsity boys, Zach Overberg turned in another strong effort, finishing eighth and medaling with an 18:39.52 time, while Allen Dunnick medaled with a 19:27.52 time for 14th place. Chad Loomis also captured a medal on Monday, finishing 15th with a 19:57.03, while Austin Dunnick finished in 16th place with a time of 20:12.00 and Jared Janssen turned in a time of 20:32.40, good for 17th place.

Emmetsburg’s Harriers will return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Sheldon to run in the Orab Invitational at the Sheldon Golf and Country Club. The action will get underway in Sheldon at 5 p.m.
