By Staff | Sep 15, 2009

LAURENS – Coming off a big win last week, the Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire knew they’d be in for a challenge Friday night at Laurens-Marathon, and that what they got. Laurens-Marathon manhandled the Raiders in a 46-8 setback for Coach Larry Swingen and his team.

“We played hard, but Laurens-Marathon is a quality football team,”?Swingen said. “Our kids never quit battling out there and they gave a great effort.”

Laurens-Marathon took an early 28-0 lead over the Raiders in the first quarter that left the Raiders in a deep hole.

The Raiders would be able to tally a pair of field goals and a safety for their only scoring in the contest, as Ryan Sikora would boot both field goals.

For the Raiders, Zach Loring carried the ball 18 times for 85 yards, while Kyle Toillion added six carries for 27 yards. Trevin Enderson had five rushes for 20 yards and Michael Sundall had five carries for 17 yards.

Overall, the Raiders ran 39 rushing plays and gained 153 yards, while Trevin Enderson completed two of seven passes for 22 yards. Ryan Sikora made both receptions for the Raiders.

Ruthven-Ayrshire draws the unenviable task of hosting North Sentral Kossuth this Friday night in District play.
