Hunter Safety Class Set For This Weekend
A Hunter Safety Course will be offered this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8, at the Lost Island Prairie Wetlands Nature Center at Huston Park, north of Ruthven. The course will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
Pre-registration is required and attendance is mandatory for both days of classes. Attendees must be at least 12 years of age. The Hunter Safety Course is mandatory for all individuals born after Jan. 1, 1967, in order to obtain a hunting license in the state of Iowa.
Pre-register at the NRCS officers, 3302 Main, in Emmetsburg, or at the Nature Center as soon as possible. Students will receive a handbook which must be read prior to the class sessions, and questions at the end of the handbook must be answered prior to the class on Friday. The handbook must be brought to the class session on Friday, Aug. 7.
The student’s social security number and birthday is required for registration.
The two-day course will be held at the Lost Island Prairie Wetland’s Nature Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. All students will need to bring a sack lunch with them both days. No firearms are to be brought to the class sessions. Students must be present for both days of the class.
