Lineman Camp This Sunday

By Staff | Jul 23, 2009

With the calendar rapidly approaching the start of fall football, it’s time to think about football camp opportunities. One exceptional camp opportunity is set for this Sunday in Fort Dodge.

The Iowa Central Community College Offensive and Defensive Padded Lineman’s Camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday, July 26, at the Iowa Central campus in Fort Dodge. The camp is open to all line players entering grades nine through 12 in the upcoming school year.

The featured clinician is former Emmetsburg Coach Duane Twait, who is beginning his seventh season as the line coach at Iowa Central, and is in his 46th season as a football coach. The National High School Coach of the Year in 1999, Twait was also named the Des Moines Register’s Football Coach of the Year in 1977 and 2003.

Twait amassed a record of 339 wins in his coaching career, won seven state titles and seven runner-up honors in his career at Emmetsburg.

The clinic allows linemen a chance to learn basic fundamentals of blocking through the development of sound football fundamentals, such as stance, balance and awareness, geared specifically towards both offensive and defensive linemen and tight ends.

Members of the Iowa Central Coaching staff will assist at the clinic.

Participants need to bring their helmet and shoulder pads.
