Iowa Games Trapshooting Event Held At Sportsman’s Park

CYLINDER – The Palo Alto Gun Club hosted one of the satellite trap shoots for the 2009 Summer Iowa Games this past weekend.

Several local shooters earned medals during the competition, held at the Palo Alto Gun Club’s Sportsman’s Park club grounds under near perfect weather conditions.

In the high school division, Alec Bush finished first with Austin Bonnstetter taking second and Tyler Drost finishing third in both the 16 yard and doubles competitions. Alec Bush was first in the handicap competition as well.

In the College division, C.R. Sample was first in 16 yard, handicap and doubles competitions.

In the Mens’ 50-57 year division, David Bolte swept all three classes of competition, winning the 16 yard, handicap and doubles. Larry Porath was second in 16 yard and handicap, while Brian Garrels was second in doubles and tied for third in 16 yard shoot with John Moran. Moran took third place honors in the handicap competition.

In the Men’s 58-64 year division, Dick Sample won all three classes of competition by winning the 16 yard, handicap and doubles.

For the Mens’ 65-70 year division, Don Bruch took first in the 16 yard, handicap and doubles competitions, while Gary Klepper placed second in the handicap and doubles competitions.

In the Men 71 and older division, Roger Will swept the competition, winning the 16 yard, handicap and doubles.

There were no contestants for the womens’ open event or school team categories.
