Lady E’Hawks Down Sheldon

SHELDON – Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks collected a 6-0 win over Sheldon in Lakes conference play Wednesday night. The win gives the lady E’Hawks a 5-2 mark in the Lakes and 8-3 overall record.

The Lady E’Hawks hit well, scoring three runs in the first inning, as Alex Lock, Nichole Hasbrouck and Kendall Corley all plated runs for a 3-0 lead. The two teams traded outs until the sixth, when Morgan Vlasman got on base off a walk and came around to score off a single by Tiffany Wollum for a 4-0 lead. In the top of the seventh, Emmetsburg scored the insurance runs when Alex Lock and Nichole Hasbrouck came home off a two run double by Kendall Corley for the conference victory.

Maddison Woodruff got the win for Emmetsburg, as she surrendered just three hits on the night, while striking out 10 Sheldon batters in seven innings of work, with three walks.

Emmetsburg got a pair of doubles from Kendall Corley, while Caitlin Wised added a double to the effort. Tiffany Wollum, Frankie Schmidt, Nichole Hasbrouck and Maddison Woodruff all added singles to the winning cause.

The Lady E’Hawks had their game with Storm Lake postponed due to Monday’s rain, and are slated to play a makeup game with West Hancock tonight (Tuesday) at Britt.
