E’Hawks Lose At LeMars

By Staff | Jun 9, 2009

A tough week on the diamond came to a close Friday in a 16-6 loss for the Emmetsburg E’Hawks on the road against LeMars. The loss moves Emmetsburg to 1-3 in the Lakes Conference standings and a 1-5 overall mark.

Austin Oppenheimer would be charged with the loss on the mound for Emmetsburg on Friday, as he went four innings in the contest, giving up five earned runs off 10 hits, while striking out just one batter.

Jake Carlson relieved Oppenheimer on the mound and went two complete innings, where he allowed a pair of earned runs off two hits.

The E’Hawks tallied six hits in the contest, with Taylor Morris pounding out a triple and single and Bobby Mortenson rapping out a double and single, while Jake Carlson added a base hit.

The E’Hawks get little rest as they were slated to host Estherville Lincoln Central on Monday night and travel to Pocahontas on Tuesday before traveling to Sheldon on Wednesday and traveling to Spencer on Friday.

The E’Hawks will then host their own tournament on Saturday, with Armstrong-Ringsted and Westwood.
