Lady E’Hawks Place Sixth At State Golf

MARSHALLTOWN – Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks earned a sixth place finish in the Class 2A Girls State Golf Tournament Monday and Tuesday. Playing on the course at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown, Coach Ted Riley and Assistant Coach Dean Newlon watched the Lady E’Hawks improve from seventh on Monday to the sixth place effort. The Lady E’Hawks shot 404 on Monday and a 405 on Tuesday.

“The girls have worked very hard all season long and I’m pleased for them,”?Riley noted.

Emmetsburg was led by the 22nd place finish of Jenny Hoch, who shot a 97 on Monday and a 94 on Tuesday for a 191 total. Megan Myers would shoot rounds of 97 and 106 for 203, good for 31st place. Krista Peaslee shot a 110 and a 99 for a 209 total and 34th place, while Janna Hoch added a 100 and 110 for a 210 total and 35th place. Lauren Zimmerman recorded a 114 and 106 for a 220, the 46th place finish.

Hannah Drost golfed Monday and shot a 122, while Ashley Pelzer golfed on Tuesday and recorded a 132.
