WBM/TRV Athletes Compete Well At State Track
DES?MOINES – The 2009 State Track and Field Championships were a good learning experience for members of the West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley track squads.
The Lady Wolverines earned a fourth and fifth place finishes from Missy Abrahamson in her shot and discus events to lead the efforts. Abrahamson threw the shot put 37’3.5” on Thursday, while her sister Jessica threw 33’11.5″ to place 15th overall. The duo went to the discus venue where Missy earned fifth place with a throw of 115’8″ and Jessica threw 95′ for 19th place.
Kaley Lempke ran in the 100 meter dash prelims and turned in a time of :13.69, which was the 23rd fastest time overall.
Brooke Bennett competed in the 3000 meter run and finished in 23rd place with a 12.01.42 clocking.
The Distance Medley Relay, comprised of Michaela Grimm, Laura Smith, Amanda Frieden and Brooke Bennett, set a new sharing record with their 4:34.12 time, which was the 21st finishing time.
The Wolverines’ lone male entry, Jack Riseneberg, competed on Saturday afternoon in the 1600 meter run, where he turned in a 4:44.65 clocking, which translated into a 14th place finish.
