Middle School Runners Place At Jr. High State Championships

Members of the Emmetsburg Middle School Girls Track Team competed in last weekend’s Mike Henderson Junior High Track Championships in Ankeny and came back with several strong placings, including a first place finish in one event.

The Eighth Graders finished tenth overall in the team standings and were paced by the Sprint Medley, as Miranda Vlasman, Hannah Priest, Whitney Kibbie and Erin Reedy were first in a time of 4:51.15.

Erin Reedy took second in the 800 meter run with a 2:41.31 effort and Jacque Carlson placed third in the discus, throwing 80’7“. Erin Reedy also earned a fifth place finish in the 1500 meter run with a 5:32.91 time. Jacque Carlson placed eighth in the shot put with her throw of 25’7”.

The Medley Relay of Miranda Vlasman, Rachel Schroeder, Hannah Priest and Shelby Brindley finished ninth with a time of 2:11.59. The 4×200 relay, with Vlasman, Brindley, Schroder and Priest took 11th place with a 2:06.18 clocking.

Whitney Kibbie placed 13th in the 200 meter low hurdles with a :33.74 time, and finished 15th in the seven-flight hurdles with a :14.21 time. Rachel Schroeder also earned 15th place in the 100 meter dash with a :15.3 time.

Harley Eggers finished 19th in the discus with a throw of 61’2” and placed 21st in the shot put with a throw of 22’8″. Shelby Brindley finished 21st in the 100 meter dash in :16.1, while Miranda Vlasman was 22nd in the long jump, leaping 12’11“, while Whitney Kibbie jumped 12’4” for a 24th place finish.

The E’Hawk Seventh Graders finished 12th overall in the team standings at the state meet.

Teegan Olson earned second place in the discus, throwing the platter 83′ and Hadley Egland earned a fourth place finish in the 200 meter low hurdles with a time of :33.67 and also finished fourth in the seven-flight hurdles with a :14.52 clocking.

Teegan Olson took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 25’5″, while Hadley Egland was seventh in the long jump, leaping 11′ and then finished the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:08.1
