E’Hawk Thinclads Running Consistently
Emmetsburg’s E’Hawks are running consistently as their season builds towards the District Meet this Friday.
Emmetsburg placed third at Storm Lake on April 30, and ran last Tuesday in a rain-shortened event at Algona before taking third place at Spencer this past Friday.
At Storm Lake, the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with Jake Morris, Justin DeFord, Joey Naig and Trevor Dettmann, took first with a 1:00.3 and the 4×100 relay, with DeFord, Dettmann, Brady Berkland and Tommy Kuecker, won with a :45.78 clocking. Dettmann also won the 110 high hurdles in :14.7, while teammate Jake Morris was second in :15.2.
JC Rezabek was third in the shot at 46′ and Dettmann was third in the long jump, leaping 19’11“. Jared Janssen took third in the 800 meter run with a 2:16.3 pace. Justin DeFord earned fourth in the 200 meter dash with a :23.5 effort and the Distance Medley, with Langston Jones, Taylor Morris, Cory Schultes and Jake Carlson, finished fourth in 4:03.7.
Jared Janssen was fifth in the high jump, clearing 5’4″, while Lucas Thomsen took fifth in the shot put, throwing 44’9” and added fifth in the discus, throwing 128’1″.
Allen Dunnick was fifth in the 3200 meter run with an 11:84.7 and the 4×400 relay, with Keaton Carter, Jones, Schultes and Kuecker, were fifth in 3:50.8.
Bobby Gappa was sixth in the 800 meters with a 2:19.0, and Cory Schultes was sixth in the 100 meter dash in :11.6. The 4×800 relay, with Gappa, Justin Studer, Janssen and Carlson, finished sixth in 9:24.3.
The rains cut Tuesday’s Hackbarth Relays short at Algona, but again the E’Hawks were solid in their events. The shuttle hurdle relay was first in :59.77 and Dettmann took the 110 high hurdles in :15.0. Jake Morris was second in the 400 hurdles with a 1:00 effort. The 4×200 relay, with Schultes, Taylor Morris, Brady Berkland and Tommy Kuecker, was third in 1:35.8 and Kuecker finished third in the 200 meter dash with a :23.7 effort.
Jake Morris was third in the 110 high hurdles with a :15.7 time. Lucas Thomsen took fourth in the shot at 44’8.25“, while Dettmann was fourth in the long jump at 18’10.5”.
Josh Wolfe took fifth in the discus, throwing 133’11” while the Distance Medley, with Jones, Taylor Morris, Schultes and Carlson were fifth in 3:59.1 and Schutles took fifth in the 200 meter dash with a :24.0 clocking.
At Friday’s Spencer Relays, the E’Hawks placed third overall in the team standings.
Trevor Dettmann continued his mastery of the 100 high hurdles, winning in :14.66 and the Shuttle Hurdle relay crew ran a 1:01.0 for the top finish. Josh Wolfe won the discus Friday with a throw of 139’1″ for the E’Hawks.
The 4×200 relay, with Berkland, Taylor Morris, Schultes and Kuecker, was third in 1:35.4 and the 4×100, with Taylor Morris, Dettmann, Schultes and Kuecker, also took third in :45.66. Trevor Dettmann earned third place in the long jump, leaping 19’3“.
Lucas Thomsen took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45’4.25″ and Jared Janssen took fourth in the high jump, clearing 5’4“. Allen Dunnick was fourth in the 3200 meter run with an 11:37.0 clocking and Jake Morris finished fourth in the 400 hurdles with a :58.55.
The 4×400 relay, with Keaton Carter, Jones, Schultes and Kuecker, also earned fourth in 3:48.8.
Taylor Morris was fifth in the long jump at 18’7.75″, and Langston Jones was fifth in the high jump, clearing 5’2“. The 4×800 relay, with Carter, Gappa, Janssen and Carlson took fifth with a 9:04.0 and the Distance Medley, with Jones, Taylor Morris, Schultes and Carlson, placed fifth with their 3:56.5 clocking.
Jake Morris was fifth in the 110 high hurdles with a :16.01 and Tommy Kuecker was fifth in the 200 meters with a :24. Joey Naig was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a :58.95 and Cory Schultes finished sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :11.83, while JC Rezabek finished the shot put in sixth place, throwing 44’6.5″.
