Knights Win Conference Links Title
LuVERNE – The Knights of Graettinger/Terril claimed the Cornbelt Conference boys golf title for 2009 following the league tournament on Monday. The Boys Tourney was played at Spring Valley.
In addition to the conference crown, Coach Brent Dyhrkopp’s squad also placed two golfers on the First Team All Conference slate and one player on the Second Team unit.
West Bend-Mallard’s Wolverines earned a First Team All Conference selection on Monday, along with three second team picks.
Nathan Kyle of Harris-Lake Park was the meet medalist with an 18-hole score of 76. Graettinger/Terril’s Jake Hoffman was the runner up with his score of 79, and earned First Team honors.
Ryan Banwart of West Bend-Mallard would end up tied for fourth place overall with an 81 stroke total, and was also named to the First Team.
James Tatman of Graettinger/Terril was the final First Team selection, as he ended up in a three-way tie for sixth place with his score of 84.
Cody Dyhrkopp of the Knights tied with West Bend-Mallard’s Travis Goeders for ninth place, as both golfers carded rounds of 85 and earned Second Team All Conference honors.
Greg Mader of West Bend-Mallard placed 23rd with a 92, while teammates Mitch Banwart and Alex Sikora were in a four-way tie for 26th place with their rounds of 94. All three Wolverines earned Third Team all conference recognition.
Other scoring included Zach Harris and Kass Schany of Graettinger/Terril both shooting rounds of 97 to be in a five-way tie for 33rd place.
Jake Goodchild of West Bend-Mallard tied with Ryan Schany of G/T for 38th place with their rounds of 98.
For Ruthven-Ayrshire, Dylan Smith tied for 52nd place with his score of 106, while Kyle Simington tied with teammate Trevor Halder for 55th place with their 111 stroke scores.
Logan Fischer shot a 122 for 61st place, while Dylan Fischer was 63rd with a 139 and Shawn Molitor placed 64th with a 144.
