Clint Stille E’Hawk Relays Features Strong Competition

Track and field fans got plenty of entertainment at the 2009 Clint Stille E’Hawk Relays on Tuesday night. Strong, close competition in all three classes highlighted the evening’s events.

All four Palo Alto County schools competed on Tuesday, earning very respectable finishes with their athletes.

In the Class A Competition, the host Emmetsburg E’Hawks finished second behind Algona. Class B action saw Ruthven-Ayrshire finish in fourth place, followed by West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley and Graettinger/Terril. The Emmetsburg junior varsity placed fourth in Class C competition.

Raider Results

Foe the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders, Colton Bakken earned a pair of first-place finishes by winning both the shot put and the discus. Bakken threw the shot 44′ and added a 114’9” discus throw.

Bradley Geelan was second in the shot put, throwing 41’8″ and Alan Japenga took second in the 200 meter dash, running a :24.84. Japenga then placed third in the 400 meter dash with a :56.94 clocking and the 4×800 relay, with Mark Langner, Trevin Enderson, Brandon Smith and Michael Sundall, took third place with their 9:%7.35 clocking.

The Raiders got a fourth place from Ryan Sikora in the 800 meter run with his 2:26.86 effort. The 4×200 relay, with Brandon Smith, Trevin?Enderson, Bradley Geelan and Michael Sundall, finished fourth in 1:46.5 and the 4×400 relay, with Smith, Enderson, Geelan and Japenga, took fourth place with a 4:05.56 time.

Ryan Sikora claimed fifth in the 400 meter dash with a :59.62 effort and Michale Sundall finished fifth in the 800 meters with a 2:32.22 time. Mark Langner rounded out the effort with a 5:28.83 clocking in the 1600 meter run to close out the placings.

Other Raider finishes included Jacob Evans with a discus throw of 63’2” and 100 meter dash time of :16.72. Brandon Smith ran the 100 meters in :12.69 and Ty Helmke finished the 1600 meters in 5:28.83.

Wolverine Winners

West Bend-Mallard/TRV got a first place finish from the 4×200 relay of Clay Douglas, Logan Streit, Sean Riesenberg and Mitch Bonnstetter, as they finished in 1:41.34.

Jack Riesenberg earned a pair of second place finishes, in the 3200 meter run with an 11:04 time and in the 1600 meters with a 5:14 clocking. The Wolverines’ Medley Relay, with Clay Douglas, Logan Streit, Mitch Bonnstetter and Jack Riesenberg, turned in a 4:18.8 time for second place.

The shuttle hurdle relay, with Jack Riesenberg, Tom Putensen, Aaron Johnson and Sean Riesenberg, took third place with a 1:18.5, while Clay Douglas finished fourth in the long jump, leaping 18’4″ and Mitch Bonnstetter claimed fourth place in the 100 meter dash with a :12.1 clocking.

The 4×800 relay, with Collin Thatcher, Tom Putensen, Jordan Knobloch and Sean Riesenberg, placed fifth in 10:04, and the 4×400 relay, with Collin Thatcher, Tom Putensen, Jordan Knobloch and Aaron Johnson also placed fifth in 4:34.

Rounding out the Wolverine placings was Jordan Knobloch in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:41.

G/T Times

Graettinger/Terril’s Knights got some respective finishes on Tuesday, starting with a third place from Nate Howard in the 100 meter dash with an :11.76 time. Morton Utoft took fourth in the 200 meter dash with a :25.07 time and also placed fourth in the 400 meter dash with a a :56.98 clocking.

Drew Skattebo earned an eighth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a :12.32 time and eighth in the 200 meter dash with a :26.81, while Nate Howard finished eighth th 400 meter dash with a :59.89 clocking.

Mike Lynch earned eighth place in the discus with a threw of 54’10” and then took ninth in the shot put, throwing 25’3″.
