RickJones and his family joined the Emmetsburg community in 1976, when Rick accepted a position as Business Education instructor in the district. As part of his association as an educator, Rick also coached eighth grade football, junior high track and field and freshman and sophomore basketball.

In 1981, Rick entered the private sector, joining the Brenton Bank staff in Emmetsburg, but he continued his involvement in Emmetsburg Athletics, coaching eighth grade through the sophomore level E’Hawk football teams to successful seasons. In 1996, Rick joined the staff of the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank, where he remains involved in the community and the Emmetsburg School District.

But it is in Track and Field that one can always find Rick – For the past 30 years, including today’s relays, Rick has been a tireless volunteer at girls and boys events at the high school and junior level, and for the past several years, Rick has enjoyed serving as the starter for the annual West Elementary Track and Field Day.

Rick has served as a guest speaker to various classes and career day events, and serves as a volunteer color commentator for E’Hawk football games on KEMB-LP

In the community, Rick is currently serving as the president of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce, and is past-president and currently serving as director of the Five Island Lake Board. He is also a member of the Emmetsburg Education Foundation Board and serves on several other boards and organizations in the community.

In his spare time, Rick enjoys a game of golf, pool league, as well as E’Hawk sports and musical activities, as well as activities with his family and friends. Rick and his wife Linda are the parents of Kari, who resides in Denver, CO., Jeff, who lives in Des Moines, and Brooke, who also lives in Des Moines.

The Clint Stille E’Hawk Relays will begin at 5 p.m. this afternoon at Duane Twait Field at Emmetsburg High School.
