Lady E’Hawks Off To Strong Start

Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks are off to a good start on the links with a pair of victories in their first week on the course. On Tuesday, the Lady E’Hawks defeated Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer and on Thursday, Emmetsburg opened the Lakes Conference campaign with a victory over Cherokee and Estherville Lincoln Central.

In Tuesday’s dual, the Lady E’Hawks defeated Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer by a score of 200-232 at the Five Island Golf Club.

Janna Hoch led Emmetsburg with a round of 46 and Megan Myers was the runner up with a 48. Other scoring for the Lady E’Hawks included Jenny Hoch with a 49, while Krista Peaslee shot a 51. Lauren Zimmerman shot a round of 60 and Amanda Pugh carded a 66.

Junior Varsity scores included a 56 for Emily Loman, a 50 for Ashley Pelzer, a 51 for Hannah Drost and a 66 from Paige Naig. Amanda Walters and Hillary Pico both shot rounds of 67 and Chelsey Rouse shot a 68, while Nikki Schany carded a 70.

In Thursday’s conference opener, Emmetsburg shot a 196, while Cherokee shot a 216 and Estherville Lincoln Central carded a 219.

Jana Hoch carded a round of 43 to lead the scoring for the meet, while ELC’s Megan Henrich was runner up with a round of 47.

Other scores for Emmetsburg included a 49 from Megan Myers and rounds of 52 from Krista Peaslee and Jenny Hoch, while Lauren Zimmerman shot a 53 and Amanda Pugh shot a 65.

In the junior varsity match, Emmetsburg shot a 227 to ELC’s 230, while Cherokee was incomplete.

Katie Lowe of ELC?was low with a 49 for the JV while Emmetsburg Hannah Drost shot a 51. Anna Pelzer shot a 58 while Hillary Pico and Emily Lowman both shot rounds of 59. Paige Naig and Nikki Schany both shot rounds of 63 and Amber Walters carded a 67.

The Lady E’Hawks golfed Monday at Sheldon and are slated to travel to Estherville today (Tuesday) for a meet.
