E’Hawks Fourth At ELC?Relays

ESTHERVILLE?- For the E’Hawks of Emmetsburg, Friday’s trip to the ELC?Relays in Estherville resulted in a fourth place finish in the team standings. However, Head Coach Tyler Beving was philosophical about the E’Hawks’ efforts.

“We had some ups and downs throughout the night. We should have scored a little better in some events but it was one of those night,” Beving noted, “but one thing about our guys is they always show up to compete.”

Once again, the E’Hawks were paced by the Shuttle Hurdle Relay group of Jake Morris, Justin DeFord, Joey Naig and Trevor Dettmann, as the foursome set a new ELC?Relay record with their 1:00.6 time for first place.

The 4×200 relay with Justin DeFord, Taylor Morris, Cory Schultes and Tommy Kuecker, also took first place honors with their 1:34.6 clocking.

Trevor Dettmann won the 110 high hurdles with his :15.03 clocking. Josh Wolfe rounded out the first place finishes with a discus throw of 128’9” for the E’Hawks.

Justin DeFord was second in the 200 meter dash with a :23.54 effort. The E’Hawks also got a third place finish from the 4×100 relay of Langston Jones, Cory Schultes, Taylor Morris and Tommy Kuecker with their :45.82 time.

Tommy Kuecker earned fourth in the 200 meter dash with a :23.9 time, while Taylor Morris took fourth in the long jump, leaping 19’5″ and Lucas Thomsen took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45’9“.

Jake Morris placed fifth in the 110 high hurdles with a time of :16.31 and Jared Janssen took fifth in the high jump, clearing 5’6″. The 4×400 relay, with Justin DeFord, Cory Schultes, Langston Jones and Tommy Kuecker, took fifth place with a 3:38.8 clocking.

Trevor Dettmann was sixth in the long jump, leaping 18’9” and the 4×800 relay, with Bobby Gappa, Jared Janssen, Jake Carlson and Keaton Carter, finished sixth with a time of 9:41, while Cory Schultes was sixth in the 100 meter dash with his :11.98 effort and Lucas Thomsen took sixth in the discus with a throw of 121′.

Other efforts included Allen Dunnick with a 12:01 time and Chad Loomis running a 12;18 in the 3200 meter run. In the 400 meter dash, Justin Hotchkiss ran a :61.09 and Keaton Carter ran a :62.6.

In the 1600 meter run, Allen Dunnick finished in 5:31.9 and Chad Loomis turned in a 5:52.8 effort. The 400 meter low hurdles saw Jake Morris finish in 1:02.2 and Trevor Dettmann finish in 1:02.8.

Jake Carlson finished the 800 meter run in 2:17.5 while Jared Janssen ran the 800 in 2:19.1 to round out the varsity efforts.

For the E’Hawk Junior Varsity, Ben Pelzer was first in the shot, throwing 39’8″ and Joey Naig was first in the 110 high hurdles in :16.9.

Brady Berkland was first in the 200 meter dash in :25.06 and took second in the long jump, leaping 18’4“. The 4X100 relay of Joey Naig, Justin Hotchkiss, Brady Berkland and Jake Morris ran a :47.6 for first place honors.

In the discus, Tyler Henderson was second with his throw of 97’10” and Austin Oppenheimer took second in the 400 low hurdles with a 1:04.4 effort.

Justin Studer would finish third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.6 and took fifth place in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:00.97.

Rounding out the efforts was the 4X200 relay squad of Brady Berkland, Austin Oppenheimer, Nick Leewright and Jake Carlson earning 5th with a time of 1:48.2.
