E’Hawks Earn Runner-Up Honors

SPIRIT?LAKE – With just one outdoor meet under their belts, the Emmetsburg E’Hawks seem to be on the right track, as they earned a solid second place finish at Tuesday’s Spirit Lake Co-Ed meet.

“I’m proud of the guys for what they have accomplished in the first two weeks,”?noted E’Hawk Head Coach Tyler Beving. “We just need to keep working and keep improving.”

Once again, the E’Hawks’ 110 shuttle hurdle relay swept the field, as the foursome of Jake Morris, Justin DeFord, Joey Naig and Trevor Dettmann won with a :59.83 time. The 4×200 relay, with Justin DeFord, Taylor Morris, Cory Schultes and Tommy Kuecker also took first place honors with a 1:35.0 clocking.

Trevor Dettmann took first in the 110 high hurdles with a :15.27 clocking and Justin DeFord earned first place in the 200 meter dash with his time of :23.15.

Emmetsburg also picked up a number of second-place efforts , starting with the discus throw of 126’6” by Josh Wolfe and the shot put throw of 43’6″ by Lucas Thomsen. Trevor Dettmann earned second in the long jump with a leap of 19’1” and the 4×800 relay, comprised of Bobby Gappa, Jared Janssen, Jake Carlson and Keaton Carter, took second with their time of 9:20.5.

The 4×400 relay of Justin DeFord, Cory Schultes, Keaton Carter and Tommy Kuecker took third place with a 3:43.3 time, while J.C. Rezabek took a third place finish in the shot put by throwing 41’9″. Lucas Thomsen place third in the discus, throwing 122’1” and Taylor Morris would finish third in the long jump, leaping 19′.

Emmetsburg got a fourth place finish from Jake Morris in the 110 high hurdles with his :16.14 effort. The Distance Medley quartet of Taylor Morris, Tommy Kuecker, Langston Jones and Bobby Gappa four earn a fourth place finish with its’ 4:01.4 time.

In the high jump, Jared Janssen placed fifth, clearing 5’6″, and then earned a fifth place finish in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:18.8.

Trevor Dettmann finished fifth in the 400 hurdles with a 1:02.6 effort .

Rounding out the placings for the E’Hawks was Keaton Carter with a :57.38 time in the 400 meter dash for sixth place, while Jake Carlson finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a 2:19 effort.

Emmetsburg’s 4×100 relay, with Langston Jones, Brady Berkland, Jake Morris and Taylor Morris, finished sixth with their :46.85 clocking.

Other efforts included a 12:22 in the 3200 meter run by Allen Dunnick and a 12:40 finish by Chad Loomis. In the 100 meter dash, Langston Jones ran a :12.1 and Cory Schultes ran a :12.2. In the 1600 meter run, Allen Dunnick finished in 5:41.2, while Chad Loomis finished with a 5:49 and in the 400 hurdles, Jake Morris finished in 1:11.1.

The E’Hawks will return to the track on Friday, April 17, when they travel to Estherville to run in the Estherville Relays at Hoyt Luithly Field. Action begins at 5 p.m.
