E’Hawk Golfers Tee Off Season With Split

Emmetsburg’s E’Hawk Golfers opened their season with a split in contests on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the E’Hawks handed Humboldt a 157-187 setback but on Tuesday, the E’Hawks struggled on the road, finishing third in a triangular at Estherville Lincoln Central. The E’Hawks shot a 170, while Cherokee carded a 166 and ELC shot a 168.

Starting the season out on Monday, the E’Hawks hosted Humboldt at the Five Island Golf Course. Matt Wellik earned meet medalist honors with his round of 34. Matt Ballman took runner up honors with his score of 39.

Other scoring for the E’Hawks included Arthur Heldt with a 40, Nate Brown with a 43, Ben McCain with a 44 and Ryan Kliegl with a 45.

In the JV match, Emmetsburg won by a 180-247 tally. Justin Kibbie led the JV?with a 31, while Eric Pelzer carded a 43. Tyler Clasing added a 45, while Josh Kibbie shot a 51, Anthony Smith carded a55 and Josh Kummer shot a 65.

On Tuesday, Emmetsburg struggled in its Lakes Conference opener at Estherville. Matt Wellik would claim the overall meet medalist honors by shooting a 36 for the E’Hawks.

Other Emmetsburg scoring saw Nate Brown shoot a 42, while Ben McCain carded a 45. Ryan Kliegl shot a 47, while Arthur Heldt and Matt Ballman both shot rounds of 48.

In the junior varsity portion of the match on Tuesday, Emmetsburg took top honors by shooting a 187. Cherokee shot a 205 and ELC?carded a 226.

For the E’Hawk JV, Eric Pelzer shot a 32, while Justin Kibbie shot a 45. Tyler Clasing added a round of 49, while Josh Kibbie carded a 51. Anthony Smith and Austin Bonnstetter both shot rounds of 53.

The E’Hawk golfers will travel to Spencer this Friday, April 17, for Lakes Conference action.
