Gun Club Annouces Open Trapshooting

By Staff | Mar 26, 2009

The Palo Alto Gun Club announces that open trapshooting will be offered weekly throughout the months of April and May on Tuesday evenings, starting at or about 5:30 pm. Any Palo Alto County or area residents are invited to come and experience the sport of trapshooting with members of the Palo Alto Gun Club. Shooters will need to supply their own shotgun and ammo, in addition to recommended eye and ear protection. Regular trap league will be scheduled during June and July, with a mini-league scheduled during the month of August.

Located 3 miles north of Cylinder, the trap range, rifle range, and pistol range at Sportsman’s Recreation Area are open for use by Palo Alto County and area residents. Anyone who wishes to do any type of recreational shooting at the rifle ranges (plinking, black powder, pistol, high-power, slug, etc.) is required to pay an annual $20 users fee or membership to the Palo Alto Gun Club, or $25 for a family membership. These fees are necessary for maintenance and insurance costs. Signs are posted at the entrance of the range, and in the parking areas with info on payment. 2009 fees and/or memberships can be mailed to: Palo Alto Gun Club, PO Box 273, Emmetsburg, IA 50536.
