Morningside Wins National Championship

SIOUX?CITY – A former Emmetsburg Lady E’Hawk standout has helped earn a National Championship for her college women’s basketball team. Brittany Williamson is a member of the Morningside College squad that won the NAIA?Division II National Championship with a 68-63 win over Hastings College last Tuesday night, March 17, in the NAIA II title game in Sioux City.

Williamson, the daughter of Roger and Lori Williamson of Ruthven, would score eight points in the championship game against Hastings last Tursday to help Morningside, earn its third national championship.

Morningside also won national titles in 2004 and 2005, finished the year with a 38-0 record and joined Indiana Wesleyan in 2007 as the only teams in history to win the NAIA II crown with an undefeated record.

Williamson played prep ball for Coach Ted Riley and the Emmetsburg Lady E’Hawks.
