It’s that time of year again for the Palo Alto County Pheasants Forever Chapter to conduct its annual banquet. The 2009 edition of the Palo Alto Pheasants Forever Banquet is set for Saturday, March 21, at the Emmetsburg VFW.

The Banquet Committee has been working feverishly over the past weeks to prepare for this year’s event. This year’s banquet will feature an updated appearance with several new activities for participants and new raffles and games.

Several outstanding items will be offered during a live auction following the banquet. The auction is the primary fundraiser for the organization’s ongoing mission of conservation and support of wildlife habitat.

“We have acquired a couple of very unique prints that will be featured on the auction” explained Banquet Chairman Darrin Adams.

“The feature print is a work by Larry Zach titled Dream Bucks II – The Missing Trophy.. This painting has the image of a massive racked whitetail buck that was harvested in Iowa during the 2003 hunting season. After the 16 year old hunter brought the mounted rack home it was stolen. This special Pheasants Forever Edition print is only available at Pheasants Forever Banquets.”

While their are wildlife art prints on the auction, there are some other works that are sure to please.

“For racing fans we have secured a framed print that comes with the potential of a celebration in victory lane” Adams said.. “The winning bidder of the print titled ‘Yesterdays Hero’ by David Barnhouse is entered into a national drawing for tickets to attend the Fall NASCAR?Sprint Cup race at bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn.”

There are items other than paintings on the auction, such as a magnificent gun cabinet constructed by Jim Redding. This hand-crafted gun cabinet will find its way to a new owner’s home at the end of the banquet.

For lucky winners, there are several chances to carry a new gun into the field during the next hunting season.

“We are very excited about this banquet,”?noted Adams. “We’ve got a wonderful selection of items on the auction, the meal will be top-notch, and the evening is all about raising money to continue the conservation efforts of Pheasants Forever.”

Tickets for the event are still available in limited quantities. For more information on the banquet or to obtain tickets, contact any member of the banquet committee. Committee members include Tom Stowell, Todd Ditch, Art Hampe, Dean VerMulm, Steve Pitt, Andy Stolley, Sam Henkelvig, Paula Peters, Shannon Iverson and Darin Adams.

The Palo Alto Pheasants Forever Banquet will be Saturday, March 21, with social hour starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Emmetsburg VFW?Hall.
