Raiders Split Against League Foes

RUTHVEN – The task gets no easier as the season winds down, and the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders settled for a split in games played at the end of last week. On Thursday, RA lost a hard-fought game to Ventura by a 51-40 margin, but rebounded to post a 63-47 win over North Sentral Kossuth on Friday night.

Thursday night saw the Raiders get off to a slow start, finding themselves in a 14 point hole before getting their offense on track. Ruthven-Ayrshire would battle evenly with the Vikings until the final three minutes of the game, when the Raider offense would go cold, allowing the Vikings to post the 51-40 margin of victory.

Ryan Sikora would lead the offense with 12 points, while Brad Geelan added nine points. Carl Jensen came up with eight points and Al Japenga added six points, with Cody Zielstra chipping in five points.

Ryan Sikora pulled down eight rebounds in the effort.

The next evening the Raiders hosted the Eagles of North Sentral Kossuth and came away with a 63-47 win.

With three players scoring in double figures, it was another night of balanced scoring for the Raiders, who got 18 points from Cody Zielstra, while Ryan Sikora added 13 points and Carl Jensen chipped in 12 tallies. Brad Geelan and Al Japenga both scored seven points and Kyle Simington came off the bench to add six points to the tally.

Carl Jensen and Ryan Sikora both pulled down eight rebounds and Jensen added four steals.
