Knights Sweep CWL
CORWITH – The Graettinger/Terril basketball teams swept a pair of games from Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne on Monday night.
The Knight girls picked up a big victory with a 62-23 win over Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne while the boys earned a 47-42 win.
“We had a good overall game,”?noted Graettinger/Terril Head Coach Roger Conway. “I thought we played good team defense with good transition into the offense, Offensively we got the ball to the open person and were able to finish.”
Tasha Neilson would lead the Knights with 17 points in the win, while Theress Peterson grabbed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while dishing out five assists.
Malorie Girres scored 11 points while Amanda Oleson and Dakota Hovinga both added eight points. Lindsay Flaharty came away with four points
The win improved Graettinger/Terril to a mark of 6-8 before taking on Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday night. The Knights will host Twin River Valley on Friday night.
In the boys contest, G/T Coach Brent Dyhrkopp said his team didn’t have an easy game. “At times we looked good, but we still had a tough time rebounding and keeping the ball out of the inside,” Dyhrkopp admitted. “We did a better job on defense and again a great job of hustling.
After being tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter, G/T took a slim 21-20 advantage at the intermission and then held on for a 32-31 lead to start the final quarter, but made some free throws down the end for the margin of victory.
Beau Craig led Graettinger/Terrl with 18 points and nine rebounds. Cody Dyhrkopp added 16 points and six steals. Cody Chapman dished out four assists in the win and added nine points, while Colin Leiting came away with four points
Graettinger/Terril improved to 5-8 overall on the season with the win prior to their Tuesday night contest at Ruthven-Ayrshire.
The Knights will host Twin River Valley in Conference action Friday night.
