Short Lineup Leads To Losses For Knights

By Staff | Feb 3, 2009

MANSON – An abbreviated lineup of wrestlers for Graettinger/Terril translated in to a pair of losses in a double dual last Tuesday. The Knight fell to Manson Northwest Webster by a 54-24 tally and were bested by Garner-Hayfield in a 40-34 decision.

“We just didn’t have enough manpower to compete team-wise with two solid wrestling programs,” said G/T coach Cody Alesch. “The nine guys who did wrestle did well. I think our mind-set was not all there because of everyone out of the line-up. We have a week to get healthy and ready for sectionals and that is our main focus.”

In the dual against the Cardinals of Garner-Hayfield, The Knights got wins from Tyler Dalen (103) with a 9-4 win over Aaron Bablock at 103, and James Tatman pinned Lucas Jackson in 40 seconds of the 112 pound match. Trent Lundgren earned a 7-4 decision over Richie Koziesk in action at 119 and at 140, Logan Tonderum won a 9-0 major decision over Lance Heimer.

Michael Jensen moved up to 152 to earn a win by forfeit and Jake Hoffman also received a win by forfeit at 189 pounds, while Josh Anderson recorded a 1:39 win by fall over Kenny Bell in the 215 pound match.

In other contested matches in the dual, Ryan Schany lost a 13-3 major decision at 125 pounds and Tymthy Hart was pinned in 1:27 of the 130 pound match. Graettinger/Terril would forfeit the 135, 145, 152, 160. 171 and 285 pound weight classes to the Cardinals.

Against the host Cougars of Northwest Webster, the Knights got wins from James Tatman at 112 with a pin in 16 seconds over Trent Meiners. At 152, Michael Jensen earned a 1:54 win by fall over Tom Lawler and at 189, Josh Anderson collected a 2:13 win by fall over Joe Albright. Jake Hoffman wrestled up at 215 to earn a 2:43 win by fall over Nick Meyer.
