Raiders Give Outstanding Effort In Win Over M-M-C
RUTHVEN – After having their game with Ventura on Friday postponed due to weather, the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders came back on Saturday night for a 78-49 win over Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in non-conference action. The win improved the Raiders to 12-1 on the season
The Raiders quickly took control of the contest, scoring 20 points in the opening quarter on Saturday, and then adding 19 points in the second quarter. Ruthven-Ayrshire used balanced scoring in the second half again to add another 19 points to their total and finished the game off with a 20 point effort for the 78-49 victory.
A trio of Raiders were in double figures to lead the Ruthven-Ayrshire offense. Brad Geelan would lead the effort with 18 points, while Ryan Sikora and Cody Zielstra both came away with 15 point efforts. Carl Jensen and Mark Geelan would both add nine points apiece, while Alan Japenga tallied six points, Colton Bakken added four points and Shawn Molitor added two points to round out the scoring.
Ryan Sikora also garnered the double-double, adding 11 rebounds to his 15 points in the win, as well as dishing out eight assists. Brad Geelan handed out seven assists in the effort and made three steals, while Al Japenga collected six rebounds. Ryan Sikora would block two shots.
“The Raiders played one of their better games of the year thus far,” noted Ruthven-Ayrshire Head Coach Randy Hough. “We played with more intensity and more enthusiasm, and once again, we were led by balanced scoring.”
After a matchup with Clay Central-Everly, the Raiders will host West Bend-Mallard on Friday night, Jan. 30, in Cornbelt Conference action at Ruthven.
Parents Night for the Raiders will be observed on Tuesday, Feb. 3, when the Raiders host Graettinger/Terril.
