Lady E’Hawks Fall At Hull
HULL – Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks didn’t get off many shots in a 51-37 loss to Hull Western Christian on Tuesday night. The setback drops Emmetsburg to a mark of 3-9 in the Lakes Conference wars and 3-12 overall on the season.
“We just didn’t get off enough shots,” observed Emmetsburg Head Coach John Kennedy. “You’re not going to win ballgames when you only get 20 hsots off in a game.”
The Lady E’Hawks got off to a cold start, trailing 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, but they added 12 points in the second quarter to cut the Wolfpack’s lead to 31-20.
Emmetsburg’s woes would spread to the other end of the court in the second half, as Western Christian began pulling down rebounds over the Lady E’Hawks to get several second and third shot opportunities. However, the Lady E’Hawks kept battling and cut the Wolfpack lead to nine points at the end of the third quarter, 37-26.
But a lack of shots in the final quarter would make the difference for the Lady E’Hawks, as Western Christian was able to edge further away from Emmetsburg and take the 51-37 final margin of victory over Emmetsburg.
The Lady E’Hawks had two players in double figures, as Bailee Moore and Mollie Smith both scored 10 points each, while Tiffany Wollum scored nine points. Paige Naig chipped in six points to the effort and Jackie Barnes rounded out the effort with two points.
Paige Naig would pull down six rebounds in the effort and made three steals for the Lady E’Hawks’ defensive effort.
For Emmetsburg, the next action will come this Friday night when the Lady E’Hawks make the road trip west to meet up with the Orabs in Sheldon.
The Lady E’Hawks will enjoy a couple of days off as their next game comes on Friday, Feb. 6 when they will host LeMars.
