Lady E’Hawks Down ELC
Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks have worked hard throughout the season to meld into a team and that work is beginning to pay off. A determined effort on Friday night resulted in the Coach John Kennedy’s Lady E’Hawks collecting a 47-40 win over Estherville Lincoln Central.
Emmetsburg would take the early lead in the contest, posting an 8-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter of play, and was able to hold a lead through the second quarter, posing a four-point, 19-15 lead over the Midgettes.
Bailee Moore would score the first bucket of the second half, but ELC came back and started to fight their way back into the contest. Emmetsburg refused to give up and played tough defense against the hot-shooting Midgettes, but would trail 30-28 to start the final quarter.
Estherville Lincoln Central would take as much as a six point lead in the final eight minutes of play, but the Lady E’Hawks came back to tie the game at 38-38 with just over 2:00 to go in the game.
ELC?would take a two-point lead off free throws, but those would be the last points the Midgettes would get, as Emmetsburg came back to retake the lead and stretch out to the satisfying six-point, 46-40 win.
For Emmetsburg, Bailee Moore and Tiffany Wollum would both lead the offense with 12 point each, while Paige Naig added nine points. Mollie Smith added six points and Nicole Leuer had five points.
