Lady E’Hawks Play Well In Losses To Sheldon, Storm Lake
Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks gave Sheldon’s Orabs all that they wanted Monday night in a 39-33 loss to the visiting Orabs. Then On Tuesday, the Lady E’Hawks fell on the road at Storm Lake by a 61-36 margin.
Emmetsburg fell to 2-9 in the Lakes and 3-12 overall with the setbacks.
On Monday, Emmetsburg matched Sheldon bucket for bucket in the first quarter for an 11-11 tie and held a 23-14 lead at the intermission, but was held scoreless by the tough Sheldon defense in the third period to trail 29-23. Emmetsburg tried to battle back in the fin final quarter, but could come no closer than 39-33 at the final horn.
For the Lady E’Hawks, Tiffany Wollum led the scoring with 12 points, while Jackie Barnes added nine points. Nicole Leuer scored seven points, while Bailee Moore came up with six points and Paige Naig added three points.
On Tuesday night, Emmetsburg traveled to Storm Lake and came up short in a 61-36 decision.
The Lady E’Hawks struggled offensively throughout the contest, only being able to score 12 points in the first half against the Storm Lake defense, before scoring 10 points in the third quarter and 12 in the final frame for the 61-36 final.
Paige Naig led Emmetsburg’s scoring with eight points, while Tiffany Wollum and Jackie Barnes would both score five points. Nicole Leuer added four points, while Taylor Bruns had three points and Katelyn Schany came up with two points.
Emmetsburg will return home to host Estherville Lincoln Central on Friday night and then will make the long road trip to Hull on Tuesday, Jan. 27, for a Conference matchup with Western Christian.
