Lady Wolverines Fall In Overtime
WEST BEND – Despite a spirited battle, West Bend-Mallard’s Lady Wolverines came up short in a 53-45 overtime loss to Twin River Valley Tuesday night.
Twin River Valley’s girls would take the early lead with a 11-6 tally after one quarter, but the Lady Wolverines cut their deficit to a bucket at 19-17 at the half time break.
West Bend-Mallard came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter and took a three-point, 33-30 lead at the end of the third quarter, but Twin River Valley managed to tie the contest at 44-44 at the end of regulation to set up the overtime period. But in the overtime, West Bend-Mallard’s shooting went cold and the Thunder managed to escape with the 53-45 win.
Kayla Hartman led the Wolverines with 18 points, while teammate Amanda Frieden chipped in 10 points. Marisa Thilges added five points, while Kara Vanderhorst and Jessica Fehr both scored four points. Missy Abrahamson came up with three points and Carrie Hefty chipped in two points to round out the effort.
The Lady Wolverines will host Clay Central-Everly on Friday night in Cornbelt Conference basketball action.
