Knights Second In Own Invitational

GRAETTINGER – The Knights of Graettinger/Terril earned the runnner-up finish in their own Invitational Tournament Saturday. Twin River Valley-West Bend-Mallard would take the top honors with 219 points, while Graettinger/Terril was second with 197 points in the battle between rated teams in Class 1A.

Twin River Valley/WBM, currently ranked seventh, earned five championships in the tournament, just as the third-ranked Knights did, but TRV/WBM collected three second place finishes compared to Graettinger/Terril’s four third place finishes.

Coach Cody Alesch and the Knights earned five championships during the tournament, with 112 pounder James Tatman taking the title with a 2-0 mark on the day and 119 pounder Trent Lundgren earning his crown with a 3-0 mark. At 145 pounds, Michael Jensen finished with a 3-0 record for his title and at 160, Kass Schany posted a 3-0 mark before 189 pounder Jake Hoffman won all three of his matches to take the title.

At 103 pounds, Tyler Dalen finished with a 2-1 record for third place, while at 135, Logan Tonderum also finished third with a 2-1 mark. Nate Howard would finish the day with a 1-1 mark to take third at 171 pounds and at heavyweight, Kyle Brown also finished third with a 1-1 mark.

Ryan Schany earned a 2-2 mark to place fourth at 125 pounds and Josh Anderson had a 2-2 mark in action at 215 to also finish fourth for the Knights.

Tymothy Hart would finish sixth at 130 pounds, while Heath Marchand earned a 1-3 mark in action at 140 to take sixth place for the Knights.

Graettinger/Terril is slated to host Alta and East Sac County, weather permitting, tonight (Thursday) at Graettinger.
