Raiders Earn Pair Of Victories
RUTHVEN – The Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire came away with a 68-65 win over Armstrong-Ringsted in an overtime contest on Tuesday night, Jan. 6.
It was a battle all the way on Tuesday as the two squads traded buckets back and forth in the first game off the holiday break. But, the Raiders managed to get some good contributions off the bench and made free throws at the end of the overtime to claim the win.
Carl Jensen would lead the Raiders with 19 points on the night, while Ryan Sikora added 14 points. Al Japenga came up with 12 points and Cody Zielstra chipped in 11 points. Brad Geelan tallied eight points and Mark Geelan rounded out the effort with four points.
On Friday night, the Raiders hosted Twin River Valley in a Cornbelt Conference matchup and claimed a 62-26 win over the Thunder.
Ruthven-Ayrshire led from the opening tip, taking a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and a 29-13 lead at the intermission. The Raiders led 49-22 after three quarters on their way to the 62-36 final tally.
Ryan Sikora led the Raiders with 13 points in the win, while Mark Geelan added 12 markers. Cody Zielstra came away with 10 points, along with Al Japenga and Carl Jensen. Brad Geelan came up with five points and Shawn Molitor chipped in two points.
The Raiders will travel to Harris-Lake Park tonight (Tuesday), weather permitting, and then travel to Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne on Friday night for more Cornbelt Conference basketall.
