Little E’Hawk Tournament Set For Saturday

An Emmetsburg wrestling tradition dating back to 1972 will continue this Saturday with the 37th Annual Little E’Hawk Youth Wrestling Tournament. Wrestling action will get underway at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, Jan 10, at the Emmetsburg High School gymnasium.

Kindergarten through fourth grade wrestling will open the day’s action. Weigh-ins for the littlest grapplers will take place from 7 to 8 a.m.

Wrestling for fifth through eighth grade contestants will follow the conclusion of the little guy matches. Weigh-ins for the older wrestlers will take place from 9 to 10 a.m., with their matches to follow the fifth and sixth grade divisions.

Matches will be set up in four-man brackets, with trophies to the first, second, third and fourth place finishers in each bracket. Qualified officials will officiate all the matches throughout the day.

A special presentation will also be made to start the tournament at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. The annual Booster of the Year Award will be presented, continuing a tradition that began 1981 .

Wrestling action will get underway at 9 a.m. this Saturday in the Emmetsburg High School Gym and will run non-stop through the day.
