Youth Basketball Program To Begin Saturday

Emmetsburg Recreation Department Director Mike Dunlap has announced the annual Youth Basketball program. Youth Basketball will be offered to girls and boys in grades three through six, running from Saturday, January 10, through Feb 7.

The program will be held at the Emmetsburg High School Gym for boys and at the Emmetsburg Middle School for girls. Girls will meet at the Middle School, with third and fourth graders meeting from 9 to 10 a.m. and fifth and sixth graders meeting from 10 to 11 a.m.

Boys in third and fourth grades will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. and fifth and sixth grade boys will meet from 10 to 11 a.m.

Schedules will be distributed on January 10 to all participants.

The program will begin on Saturday, Jan. 10, with a clinic session begin conducted by the Emmetsburg High School varsity basketball coaching staff.

The Youth Basketball program is to teach the basic rules and fundamentals of the game of basketball. Participants will be divided into teams to scrimmage and members of the E’Hawk and Lady E’Hawk basketball teams will serve as coaches for the program.

A participation fee is required for the program and may be paid to the Emmetsburg Recreation Department at the Emmetsburg City Hall, 2021 Main Street, in Emmetsburg. Enrollment forms and permission slips have been distributed in schools and must be returned to school by Friday, January 9 or to the Emmetsburg City Hall by Jan. 9.
