Wolverines Edged By Wildcats

ROCKWELL CITY – Despite the best efforts of the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines, Rockwell City-Lytton escaped with a 53-48 hard fought victory over the Wolverines last Thursday night. The loss drops West Bend-Mallard to 1-1.

The Wolverines struggled offensively in the first half, trailing 30-17 at the intermission, but battled back to tie the game up at 38-38 to start the final quarter. However, some crucial free throws would provide the Wildcats with the margin of victory.

For West Bend-Mallard, Darin Banwart would lead the effort with 14 points on the night, while Jake Goodchild dropped in 11 points and Travis Goeders added 10 points. Chris Schmidt added six points, while Matt Ruppert came away with five points and Mitch Bonnstetter chipped in two points.
