GRAETTINGER – Fans of boys basketball got their appetites whetted for the roundball season Friday night at the annual Graettinger/Terril Boys Jamboree.

Three scrimmages were played, with Bishop Garrigan of Algona defeating Harris-Lake Park and Spirit Lake defeating North Sentral Kossuth.

In the nightcap two-quarter scrimmage, the host Graettinger/Terril Knights matched up with Estherville Lincoln Central’s Midgets, and despite a slow start, were able to make a game out of it before falling to the Midgets by a 29-21 score.

At the end of the first quarter, Estherville Lincoln Central had taken a 21-9 lead as Graettinger/Terril struggled to find any offensive flow. The Knights also struggled to get the ball to the hoop in the quarter, but in the second quarter, the offense began to move an Estherville Lincoln Central’s hot shooting evaporated in the face of a more determined Knight defense.

For Graettinger/Terril, Beau Craig would lead the scoring with nine points, while Colin Leiting added six points to the tally. Cody Dyhrkopp and Cody Chapman would round out the Knights’ scoring with three points each.
