Harriers Close Regular Season At Spencer

SPENCER – Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks closed out the regular season last Thursday running in the Spencer Invitational Cross Country Meet. Using the meet as a tuneup for the Class 1A Regional meet this Thursday, Emmetsburg got a ninth place finish from its lone varsity competitor.

Freshman Rachael Moore earned a ninth place finish in the varsity, running a 16:40.59 time out of the 25 varsity runners in the event.

Emmetsburg had four runners compete in the junior varsity competition on Thursday, with Blake Schany taking third place with a time of 18:16.08, while teammate Tacee Leebens was right behind in fourth place with a time of 18:25.53.

Tayler Bruns finished with a 19:16.54 time, which translated into 13th place and Kilay Dunnick would finish 19th out of the 30 runners in the competition with a time of 21:03.08.

Middle School Results

Runners from the Emmetsburg Middle School have stayed busy at various events, starting with the Spencer Invitational, which they won the team title. Erin Reedy took second with a 13:51.80 time, while Taylor Reimer was sixth in a time of 15:06.85. Hadley Egland took 16th place with a 15:55.76 effort and Chelsea Forry was 19th in a time of 16:06.95.

Rachel Ruddy placed 24th with a time of 16:20.64 and Tegan Olson was 34th with a time of 17:48.57. Jenna wolfe was 45th in a 19:25.40 time and Madison Reimer was 54th, finishing in 21.20:95.

At the Spirit Lake Invitational, Emmetsburg’s girls finished fourth. Erin Reedy took second place honors with a 14:12 time, while Taylor Reimer was 10th in a 15:08 clocking. Hadley Egland finished 19th in 16:01, while Chelsea Forry was 21st in 16:16. Rachel Ruddy turned in a 16:54 time for 26th place, while Tegan Olson was 33rd in a time of 18:01. Madison Reimer finished 46th in 20:50 and Jenna Wolfe was a tick behind in 47th place with a 20:50.5.

Over the past weekend, two runners participated in the Washburn Classic Cross Country Meet at Saydel High School.

Erin Reedy would finish second overall in the event, turning in a time of 13:21 behind the eventual champion of the event, Danielle Schweitzer of East Buchanan, who finished with a time of 12:50.

Rachel Ruddy of Emmetsburg also competed in the Washburn Classic, and finished 27th in the seventh grade competition.
