GRAETTINGER – Homecoming was a happy affair for the Graettinger/Terril Knights. Coach Karlton Hector’s club simply shut down Ruthven-Ayrshire to take a 71-0 win over the Raiders, which improved Graettinger/Terril to 4-2 in Eight-Man District Two and 6-2 overall on the season.

The Knights would open the game by scoring on their opening possession. After taking the kickoff at their own 37 yard line, Cody Dyhrkopp would hit Beau Craig with a 47 yard pass for a touchdown with 11:04 to go in the first quarter. Morton Uthoff kicked the conversion to put Graettinger/Terril up by a 7-0 margin with 11 minutes to go in the opening quarter.

Ruthven-Ayrshire took the resulting kickoff for their first offensive series of the game, but the Knights’ defense forced the Raiders into a punting situation. As the ball was snapped, Kass Schany came through the line and managed to block the punt.

Jake Hoffman fell on the blocked put at the Raiders’ five yard line for the Knights, and two downs later, Hoffman would run the ball in from two yards out to score with 8:34 to go in the quarter, Utoff added the kick for a 14-0 tally as the Knights were on a mission.

The dominance of the Graettinger/Terril defense was set from that point, as they would consistently force Ruthven-Ayrshire into three down and punt situations. The offense would then take over, with nearly every possession resulting in points for the Knights, as they went on to take the 71-0 win

For Graettinger/Terril, Drew Skattebo came up with 151 yards on 10 carries, while Jeremiah Andrews added 65 yards on six carries. Jake Hoffman added 43 yards on five rushes, while Eric Hatland had 44 yards on four carries. HEath Marchand rushed four times for 17 yards and Cody Dyhrkopp added seven yards on four carries. Dyhrkopp completed three of four passes for 83 yards and Eric Hatland made a halfback pass for 15 yards.

Beau Craig had a 46 yard catch and James Tatman had a 33 yard reception, while Kass Schany caught one pass for four yards.

The Knights will close the regular season Friday by hosting Armstrong-Ringsted, while Ruthven-Ayrshire will host Harris-Lake Park for Parents Night at Ruthven.
