Netters Fall At Western Christian
It was a long road journey to Hull Tuesday night for the Emmetsburg Lady E’Hawks and a Lakes Conference matchup with Western Christian. The Wolfpack would sweep Emmetsburg 3-0 by game scores of 5-25, 5-25 and 9-25, dropping the Lady E’Hawks to 1-6 in the Lakes Conference and 2-23 overall in matches on the season.
“We were passing the ball really well all night long,” noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Andrea Accola-Sabin, “But we couldn’t get the ball over the net.”
Emmetsburg’s offense was limited against Western Christian, as the Lady E’Hawks had just 15 of 19 service completions. Hannah Reichert made four serves, while Mollie Smith, Kayla Herbers and Katie Malm all made three serves and Bailee Moore made two serves.
At the net, Kayla Herbers had 11 of 13 hits with two kills, while Mollie Smith made seven of 10 with a kill. Morgan Vlasman added six of eight with a kill, while Jordan Morris had five of six with two kills and Bailee Moore added five of six hits. Katelyn Schany had three of four hits and Bridget Rouse made one of three hits.
Bailee Moore would dish out four assists, while Hannah Reichert had one assist.
Bailee Moore would make six digs along with Nichole Hasbrouck, while Kayla Herbers dug out three shots. Mollie Smith and Morgan Vlasman both had two digs and Katie Malm dug out a shot. Mollie Smith and Morgan Vlasman would both combine for a block in the match.
Emmetsburg closes out the Lakes Conference season tonight (Thursday) by hosting Spencer for Senior Night, and will end the regular season on Saturday at the Storm Lake Tournament.
The Lady E’Hawks enter Class 2A Regional Tournament play Tuesday night, Oct. 21, when they will host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in a 7 p.m. contest at EHS.
